Norwood M. ("Shotgun" - baseball) Richard, Sr. on Monday, March 12, 2018, went home to his glory at the age of 68. Norwood was born and lived in New Orleans, LA. He attended Epiphany Elementary school, was a graduate of George Washington Carver Senior High School and attended Delgado Community College. Norwood grew up in the 7th Ward. Norwood was well known for his baseball skills, becoming affectionately known as "Shotgun", because of the speed at which he threw the baseball. He played baseball with his brothers at Hardin park, he was a member of the G. W. Carver baseball team, and other teams. Norwood was also affectionately known, to this day, as "Baby Brother" because he was the youngest of 4 brothers. Norwood never met a stranger. Family and friends always went to Norwood with their challenges; he would always give good advice founded in wisdom and humor. He was always quietly helping others. Norwood enjoyed a good party because he liked making other people happy. He loved well and is well-loved.
He was the son of the late Alvin Lionel Richard, Sr. and Bernice Lebeaud. Norwood was the father of Chelsey Richard Napoleon, Chandra Richard McMillon, and Norwood M. Richard, Jr. He was the proud grandpappy of Mary Napoleon.
