Joann Marie Brown was born January 13, 1966, to the union of Jacqueline B. Brown and Joseph Brown, in New Orleans, LA. On December 2, 2016, at the age of 50, the Lord called our beloved Joann home to receive her crown and to live with Him forever. Joann is preceded in death by her grandfather, Willie J. Huntley and grandmother, Viola Bradley. She leaves precious memories to her loving and devoted daughter, Briana Brown; her mother, Jacqueline Brown; grandmother, Evelyn Huntley; two sisters, Pamela B. Davis and Rachell Saulter; four nieces, Shawna, Kiva (Michael), Victoria, and Jamie; two nephews, Kenji Sr. (Shemika) and Edward; three great-nieces, Anaiyah, Autumn, and Kennedi; four great-nephews, Jaden, Kenji Jr, Jonathan, and Myles. Joann grew up in New Orleans, receiving her formal education in the Orleans Parish School System. Joann graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 1991 and a Master's degree in Social Work from Southern University of New Orleans in 1995. She was focused and determined, receiving her certification to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and spent much of her time devoting herself to helping children and families. Joann worked for the State of Louisiana for over 22 years. She also served in the Army Reserves for 11 years and was honorably discharged in 2007. Joann converted her life in 1995, and at her passing she was a faithful member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Fred Luter, Jr. She enjoyed inspirational books, good music, house hunting, and watching Susie Orman and Super Soul Sunday on TV. In spite of her metastatic Sarcoma Cancer, she continued to strive. She started Innovative Behavioral Health LLC, a behavioral health practice and continued to bless others to the very end of her life's journey. Joann had the opportunity to meet many wonderful and amazing people, with whom she developed some lifelong friendships. Joann will always be remembered for her classy style, insightful wisdom, and her beautiful smile.
