Reverend Herbert Landry, departed this life to answer the call of the Master on, December 16, 2016. He was born on April 6, 1929 to Frank and Beaulah Landry, in Napoleonville, La. He was one of 9 children. He was a pastor, preacher, teacher, husband, father, son, brother, friend, and mentor. He was a lifelong resident of Kenner, Louisiana and resided there from 1959, until his death. He was married to the late, Minister Audrey Winters Landry for 44 years. From this union was born Gardenia and Geraldine Landry.
He attended the New Orleans Public School System. He was baptized at an early age and served in the church. He was an ordained minister and pastor. He was the pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church for 20 years. He was a member of the 7 Seals and the Ambassadors for Christ. He was a teacher, preacher, father, brother, and great mentor for the upcoming kingdom builders. He encouraged women to bring the word when everyone wouldn't give them a chance. He was active, in spreading the word, in his last days through" The Clock Tract Ministry".
Herbert Landry, worked on the river front as a long shore man and was the President of H and L Trash Hauling Service. He worked and provided well for his family. He was a man of great determination. He was the patriarch of the family and knew how to make a situation right, whether by spiritual, monetary, or emotional support. He taught his children to study and apply the Word of God.
He always said'" God told me not to worry, Landry, just trust me." ~ There is no failure in God." ~ One of these old days I'm going to take the wings of a dove and fly away." His favorite songs were "I'll Fly Away" ~ "I've Decided to Make Jesus My Choice" ~" God Shall Wipe All Tears Away" Favorite scriptures: As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Gardenia L. Crockett (Kenner, La.) and Geraldine Tucker (St Petersburg, Fla.) 1 brother Edward Landry of New York, 3 sisters, Hollins Landry Dyer of California, Myrtle Robillard and Barbara Stewart of New Orleans, La., 4 granddaughters ~Nephateria Crockett, Miriam, Zipporah, and Pamela Tucker, 1 Godchild Coretta Blount, and 6 great grandchildren, Callie Crockett, Dawn Crockett Dickerson, Audrey Tucker, Isaiah Wooten, Zanita Williams, Kayla Bell, and a host of brother in laws, sister in laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Landry, Sr. and Beaulah Johnson Landry Byrd, his wife of 44 years Minister Audrey Winters Landry, 5 siblings Walter Landry, Sr., Frank Landry., Raymond Landry, Sr., Lillian Willis, and Marion Simpson.
He will be missed but never forgotten. He will always be in our hearts. "Our HERO, he was the wind beneath our wings."
Family, friends, churches and neighbors of Lincoln Manor, St. Anthony Divine Spiritual Church, Chateau Living Center, Oschner Hospital and Wound Care and St. Catherine's Hospice are invited to the service.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside service at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 11316 River Road, St. Rose, La. 70087. Elder Gardenia L.
